Induced Draft Cooling Tower (Counter-Flow Type)
In these Cooling Towers, the air induced by one or more fans arranged on the top of the tower.
The fans, which sometimes exceed 20 ft in diameter, are driven by mechanical system generally including gearbox, transmission shaft and electric motor. Smaller diameter fans can be driven by motor-speed reducers.

Fibre Glass Fan Blades (1 meter - 30 feet dia)
In these Cooling Towers, fiberglass fan blades are used to induce air through the tower by one or more fans arranged at the top of the structure. The fan blades, available from 1 meter up to 30 feet in diameter, are designed to deliver high airflow with stable and smooth operation. These blades are generally mounted on a hub and driven by a mechanical system consisting of a gearbox, transmission shaft, and electric motor. Smaller diameter fiberglass fan blades can also be directly driven through motor-speed reducers.

Cooling Principle of Operation
Cooling Tower is a heat exchanger, which removes a certain amount of heat from water system. This heat is transmitted to the atmosphere and the water is return at a lower temperature. The air is used as a cooling medium via physical phenomenon of evaporation. The transfer of heat from water to the air is carried out by convection and by evaporation.
Taking into account the conditions of the air when it enters the cooling tower, only by 10–15% of the heat are generally removed by convection. Evaporation is thus the predominant phenomenon; its efficiency is directly bound up with the design and exchange surfaces.

or - By films of water tricking over the surface (“film” type)
